Winnie's story is a very interesting one. Winnie was adopted a couple of years ago, but she was returned because the situation did not work out. While Winnie was at CSCAGDR she was very unsure of herself and easily intimidated.
During the summer of 2001, a 9-year-old boy in Texas who was dying of cancer desperately wanted a Great Dane. He had fallen in love with the breed during a therapy program. He saw Winnie's face on the internet and instantly knew she was "his Dane." Three wonderful Charleston policemen drove 17 hours straight to grant his wish. Winnie stood by the boy's side constantly and even helped him get around as much as he possibly could. Less than three weeks after Winnie arrived, the boy passed away. But Winnie continues to be a constant support to the family. There is no doubt that Winnie knew what her job was in Texas.
