Merlin doesn't look like a Dane, but he certainly acts like one. He is really a Gordon Setter rescued from the shelter by the president of CSCAGDR. His litter was taken into the woods when they were 5 weeks old. Merlin apparently did not "track" and was left behind in the woods. He was turned into the shelter and then placed with a young man who kept him for two weeks in his apartment and returned him. He was totally depressed and curled up in a ball in the back of his kennel. He may not hunt, but Merlin keeps all the Danes in rescue under control. He is a benevolent ruler, breaking up arguments and then kissing those involved to reassure them! He loves to swim and some of the Danes watch from the shore and think he is nuts! He hasn't really kept up with the duties of a setter - he doesn't set the clocks or the table! This very friendly guy is a permanent resident at the rescue and he is always ready to bring you a toy or two.
