Frances is the mother of Pepper and Smudge. All of these Danes came from Illinois. In their previous home, they were tied to a tree all day and the only place they could sleep was on the steaming hot asphalt. When they came into rescue, they still had some of that melted asphalt on them. Frances was heartworm positive and all of them had worms. They were extremely malnourished and had never been seen by a vet. All three were untrained, unsocialized, and unhousetrained. Frances and Smudge have been adopted by families in Charleston. Pepper, who is now known as Harley, lives in Connecticut.
