DAVENPORT
Davenport spent his first seven years with one owner. He apparently did not receive the attention, time and training that he should have. He was mostly an outside dog during that time, and also came into rescue with a few unresolved medical concerns. Davenport has had some seizures prior to being here, and his medical chart shows that he is hypothyroid, but he was never put on medication for this. Soloxine is very cheap, and hypothyroidism can be a cause of seizures. Davenport will be getting a full workup with his neuter now that he is "officially" in rescue. Davenport has been here for two months now. When he first arrived he had absolutely no manners or skills at all. He did not even know the "sit" command, stole food off the counters, got into the trash, and looked at you like he had no clue that you were even talking to him when he was reprimanded. He now sits on command, does not surf the counters (well, most of the time :), and he stops when we tell him no), and hasn't been in the trash in a couple of weeks! :) He is a big marshmallow lovebug, and even though he is not yet neutered (he will be soon), he has not had one problem with any of the other 11 dogs or the 5 cats he shares his space with. He is very gentle natured, loves his ears rubbed, buries his head in your chest for pets, and will "hook" your leg with his front leg to get you closer for a hug! He was grieving when he arrived here, but he has opened up now, and is full bore! He plays with the other dogs, runs in the yard, leaps around for attention, and has the funniest way of waking you in the morning for some hugs! Please consider making Davenport a part of your family. I know you will not be disappointed!
