GRACIE -
Gracie is the mama of the Danes rescues from Chesterfield County. She is a love! She is very protective of her "babies" and she and Romeo are probably the only reason they have survived to be 14 months old. Grace has a sweet nature, and will require a loving indoor home where she can get all the attention she missed out on for her five years so far. By some miracle, Gracie is heartworm negative, and once she gets over her infection, will be healthy! She is so deserving of a soft couch and a family to call her own after raising her own family so well.
UPDATE - AUGUST 18, 2007:  Gracie is a 4 ½ yr. old Dane who lived through some horrible treatment. You can read about her rescue story here. Gracie is an angel. She has a great personality, gets along well with other dogs, kids and adults, she is housetrained and well-behaved. Gracie needs a home that will make a lifetime commitment to her. Dylan is her son and depends on her. We would love to adopt both of them to the same home. The adoptive family must have some experience with a shy dog and patience to teach Dylan to trust them.
If you have room in your heart and home for Gracie, please contact Cee
UPDATE:
Gracie is no longer up for adoption. She has been diagnosed with cancer in her nose, mouth and backside. She has only been given a few months to live. We have set her up in an outdoor area where she has free roam to lay in the grass and sun...her favorite things. Sad day for us and for Dylan, but she is still a happy girl and we'll make sure she stays that way.

DYLAN -
Dylan is one of the two male "babies" from Chesterfield County. He had no adult interaction from birth, living in a "pen" with his parents and three other siblings. Recently, these Danes were digging out of their pen, and a neighbor threatened to shoot them, so it was agreed that they would all be turned in to Animal Control, who turned them over to rescue. Dylan was terrified of people when he arrived in rescue. He had mange, intestinal parasites and was underweight. He is learning to trust people in rescue, and now approaches to be fed, wagging his tail! It is nice to see the fear beginning to leave his eyes. Dylan is not ready for adoption, as he will need to be socialized before he can be safely vetted.
UPDATE - AUGUST 18, 2007:  Dylan is 2 yr. old beautiful black Dane. He is a very special boy and had never been touched by human hands until he was captured on a catch stick brought to a shelter and then delivered to us. It took him quite a while to trust us and he has come a very long way. He will need a family that has experience with shy dogs or is willing to learn. It would be best to adopt Dylan with his mother Gracie but we will consider separating them for the right family. Please consider donating to his care. Contact Cee to donate or to add Dylan to your family.

JORDAN AND TAYLOR -
Jordan and Taylor are 1 year old Redbone Coonhound mixes. They were found on the side of the road in the dead of winter at 3 weeks old. Both girls were covered in mange and ringworm. They are healthy now and are looking for their forever home(s). They are good with other dogs, cats, and children. Jordan and Taylor are a little skittish at first, but are lovers after someone pets them. They walk well on leashes and weigh about 60 lbs.  Both girls are housetrained. Please contact Karen at 843-835-2809 for more information or to add one of these girls to your family!
JACKSON -
Jackson is a 4-5 year old July Hound. He is a very sweet dog. Jackson is not housetrained right now, but it would be very easy to get him there. He is leashtrained and loves to get his exercise. Jackson would be a great dog for a jogger, but is content to be laid back too. He can jump a 4' fence, so he needs at least a 6' fence. Jackson weighs about 50 lbs. Please contact Karen at 843-835-2809 for more information or to add Jackson to your family!
DIXIE -
Dixie is a 3 year old Foxhound. She is good with dogs, LOVES children, and is good with cats. Dixie is houseworthy and doesn't need to be crated when left home alone. She is leashtrained but needs a prong collar or she will pull. Dixie needs a home with at least a 6' fence. She weighs about 60 lbs. Please contact Karen at 843-835-2809 for more information or to add Dixie to your family!
JOJO -
JoJo is a Treeing Walker Coonhound who is 3 years old. He weighs about 60 lbs. He is trustworthy inside without a crate, but is currently living outside. He LOVES children and is good with other dogs and cats. He was adopted once, but had to come back as his owner was not taking adequate care of him. JoJo is a good boy who deserves a great home. Please contact Karen at 843-835-2809 if you are interested in adopting him!

SIRIUS LEE -

Sirius Lee is a beautiful 3 1/2 year old black Great Dane. He was in 3 homes, a shelter and then brought to us within one months time. Sirius loves to play with balls, he is an active, fun-loving boy who wants to be part of a wonderful family. Sirius is a bit shy when he meets new people, so his prospective family would have to be able to visit him at the rescue several times before adoption. Once he gets to know you, he will be attached to you at the hip forever!  Please contact Cee at Great Dane Rescue of South Carolina for more information or to add Sirius to your family!

SAMPSON -
Sampson is a 12 month old Catahoula Leopard Dog/American Bulldog mix. He is a fun loving boy with a lot of energy.  Sampson is good with other dogs but due to his size, has been known to scare some off at first sight!  He loves kids but may be too much for small children to handle.  He is a smart guy and should do well in obedience training.  He has lots of energy and needs to be able to run and play outside.  Please email ECSescilla@aol.com for more information about Sampson.
